at first the word began, then
the world became our land,
where sea and sky greet we almost seem,
to see the space between.........

"The map is not the territory"

   The beauty of a  women invites, but only an invitation of a  beautiful heart is warm enough,
that we can stay......

To Rilke, who was lost in the thrall of Lou Andreas-Salome

    You Alone Are Real to Me

To Rainer Maria Rilke……

Like a Falcon swiftly passing on the way to a kill,
Your beauty surprised me;
As if the dream I embraced,
Embraced all I could be.
Yes, only you, alone, are real to me.

As the Dolphin rises and, in huff joy,
Flays the air with its rising;
And I , too, leap like freed seed.
Oh however hard I try to capture you, you
Who, alone are only real to me.

The cuffed pistal with the rosy splay,
I see in my garden everyday;
The heel marks of some creatures path,
Reminding me of your shadow, as in a blanched photograph:
Still, you alone are real to me.

Only you take my hope away, each time you carelessly pass,
You soar long enough to say, I am you love but beauty passes,
And you can only say good bye.
Above you I will soar your souls aloneness, and
You will never curse my cruelty.

poem: BLADE , from Eros and Pathos, part 3 :beauty

                                                            BLADE

                                                         Sophia's spell

Her costume blazed the color of my blood
That coursed my veins in rhythm’s mystery,
Although she was my friend I could not see
The place where blade and ice to wisdom cede.

Cold is the moment that departs, it floods
The text and core of memory, warms like
Air revives our blood, its blue remembers right
The code of life is crimson in its light.

 Arms and back and thighs like blossomed wings ,
Flew the longing of our hearts, and slid like the soaring
Of some bird who coursed the world on unseen tour
Of heaven’s light; and as our guide brought more

Than simply our delight. Spin and spiral, slip and thud
As blade rejoined the bite of icy ice,
 The silence of the crowd was known, by the sound
Of blade transcribing the unknown.

from "Eros and Pathos" part 3, heart song.

  "Friendship is proof of free will, chosen freely: free will & destiny, friendship is the space between,
where our hearts know we are alive....

the poet is engaged on the edge of consciousness where words fail but meaning still exist

Art...Meaning.......mystery

life note

art.......mystery...........love

 And I, who never burned for my seeing more,
than now I burn for this: that in all things known,
to you, save Him who gleans all bliss,
and in unabated calm such where no light is hoard,
you see with my eyes that which from you shown,
that so warmed my heart as you this.

Haiku #881

the candle flickered
but love then lighted your face
with its own beauty

friendship

Although we get to choose,
we must be careful not to lose;
if, in a given day we preen,
to much or seem to fairly fade,
others will walk along a path,
that takes them far away, but
it is the one we chose,
who chose us and, gladly, stayed.
